Planning a vacation with your kids in tow can never be easy, especially if it is one on a budget. Kids come up with all manner of distractions, expenses, and hidden intentions that if you’re not careful, you may end up ruining your vacation.
But not in Zanzibar!
This is one beautiful destination that can be a fantastic and affordable family holiday. If you’re flying in from Europe or the Americas, the exchange rate against your money can comfortably be balanced by the low living costs. And still, leave you with pocketfuls on your last day. You can fork out only $8 for a massive feast of a meal, $2 for a beer and up to $60 per person per week for a private seaside villa.
When it comes to things to do in Zanzibar, it can be as expensive or as cheap as you like. Walking along the beach, and swimming is all free and can provide endless entertainment when you’re with kids. You can take your older kids for a splash-out and catch some kite-surfing in Paje, and they will learn a new skill.
And if your kids are new to scuba-diving and snorkeling, you can take the trip to Nungwi and make the most of diving opportunities available there. You can book an entire boat with your family for only $10. You can also go fishing with the many dhows boats and also thrill yourself and your kids with some speedboat sailing.
For a mere $50 Zanzibar spots will spoil you and your kids with exciting entertainment that is a small fraction of what the competition in other countries can offer.
You can take your kids out for other abundant destinations like exploring the souks in Stone Town. You can spend a few shillings on wooden giraffe curios and other crafts, including fun jewellery. While still at Stone Town, you can engage one of the Swahili locals to expound the fascinating history of Zanzibar: The Slave Market, the spice plantations, the museums, Jozani forest and the local lifestyle and culture. You kids can also visit the reptile park as well as the colobus monkeys again in Jozani forest. All these activities will fall under $8 making Zanzibar an excellent value for families
