A ride on a boat for around half an hour will take you to Prison Island. This island is a nature reserve for tortoises now. But in the earlier ages it used to be a prison and slaves also used to be held here. After slavery was abolished the place became a sort of quarantine where people with deadly diseases were sent to recuperate or die. You can only see the remnants of the prison but it is a place worth visiting as you will get to know the way slaves were treated and how difficult life must have been for them.

Jozani Forest:

A swamp forest that usually gets flooded, the Jozani forest is a great place for people who like to commune with nature. You can also trek in the forest and you will be amazed by the trees and the ferns that grow here.
